The Estadio Nemesio Díez, (formerly Estadio Luis Dosal) nicknamed La Bombonera, is one of the oldest football stadiums in Mexico. Opened on August 18, 1954, with a capacity of 18,651 seats, it is located in the city of Toluca, Mexico, near Mexico City. It is the home of Deportivo Toluca Fútbol Club. Because of its location this stadium has hosted two World Cups (1970 and 1986). One former nuance about this stadium is that it did not have a lighting system which forced the local team, as a tradition to play with sunlight. However, this has changed with Toluca's entry into the Copa Sudamericana because CONMEBOL has a policy stating that all teams participating in the cup must have a lighting system available in their stadiums.

Renovation (2015 - 2017)[edit]

With an investment of 800 million pesos, it was announced to remodel Nemesio Diez stadium by 2017, when Club Deportivo Toluca fulfill its centenary and celebrate it with new, functional stadium.

Within the Nemesio Diez, four macro support columns that will sustain the stadium structure, and thus the current columns obstructing visibility, will be built. In the shadow stands, a second level will be built so the capacity, which currently stands at 22,000 will increase to 35,000.

The project also includes four giant screens at each end of the building, replacement of all seats and a sunroof in the preferred shade to assist in the process of sunny grass of the field.

The opening of this new home is planned for February 2017 with a friendly match with a high quality opponent of the "football world".[2]
