..Burg Arras is located above the tiny little village of Alf an der Mosel. This castle has remains that are over 1,000 years old. Still intact is the tower, and some other sections of the castle. We met Frau Maria Keuthen upon our arrival. She and her husband have done a wonderful job of renovating the castle and keeping up the small museum. The museum, although small, is well worth the visit and you can climb to the top for a breathtaking view. The "afternoon room" as they called it for guests had this great panoramic view of the village below. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, and our hosts were great. Breakfast was good, also -- they have a restaurant, but we only had beer on the terrace -- another great view! Not much English spoken, but what warm friendly people -- the caretaker just couldn't do enough for us, and we couldn't thank her enough.
