[edit] Summary

Natural landbridge in Aruba, formed by the strong waves of the Atlantic Ocean over time. Picture taken by myself during a cruise in August 2005.

    • Updated on 5/20/2006 by Bobby Scott

Due to immense pressure from waves that originally formed it, the Natural Bridge collapsed on February 9, 2006.

Here is a picture of the bridge after the collapse. Collapsed Natural Bridge

[edit] Natural Bridge Collapse Date Mix-up

Apparently there was a mix-up in the interpretation of the date. I just returned from Aruba and the operator of the store near the Natural Bridge told us that the bridge collapsed on September 2, 2005 between 3:00am and 6:00am. The caption on this page says February 9, 2006. This USA Today article supports the September date [1]. The mix-up is likely a misreading of the date in US and non-US formats (i.e. 9/2/2005). TJP.
