Look at the tail, which is painted red. Is that a Virgin plane?Sat Dec 02 16:22:41 -0800 2006 From: Bruce
That's a good guess but I'm not entirely sure. I went to images.google.com and did a search for "virgin atlantic" and found a bunch of pictures of Virgin planes that look similar. However there's one big discrepancy. If you zoom in on this plane you'll see the engine cowlings are painted blue. In virtually every picture on google the Virgin planes have their cowlings painted red.Sat Dec 02 17:18:56 -0800 2006 From: Mith18
It could also be a Quantas (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) plane as they also have red tail wings. But I'm sure many other countries have red tail wings on their planes, I also can't think of why the U.K would have a Quantas plane.Sat Dec 02 20:51:42 -0800 2006 From: scott.and.lai@sbcglobal.net
I Googled Qantas airplane pics, and they don't seem to have blue cowlings, either. Looks like the tail has at least one vertical white stripe....Sat Dec 02 22:24:13 -0800 2006 From: SpyderMonkey
A few posts on Keyhole say it's British Airways.

Spyder, the blue cowls on that BA plane looks about right. The tail seems to have too much white, though. Can anyone find a BA plane with less white on the vertical tail?Sun Dec 03 10:24:42 -0800 2006 From: SpyderMonkey

Sun Dec 03 14:27:10 -0800 2006 This picture shows the tail a little better. What we can see from overhead seems to be mostly red, although the tail art may differ a little. Also look at the front of the plane. There seems to be a red stripe that could be the "ribbon" on the BA plane. From: tedder
Perfect, Spyder. I agree, it is a BA plane. The red on the tail cone (not just the vertical tail) probably explain a lot of what we are seeing in the satellite image.Sun Dec 03 16:24:17 -0800 2006 |
