This is the Norfolk Naval Shipyards. In the picture is the Nimitz class ship and a Tarawa class Amphibious Assault ship.

Interesting side note: if you look at the station through MSN Virtual earth (though my other favorite satalite site, flasearth.com) the Carrier and Amphib are replaced by a battleship.

Also, the amphib is the Belleau Wood.

The aircraft carrier may be USS Ronald REAGAN CVN 76 homeported at San Diego, but stationned in Norfolk shipyard for maintenance.

Google earth has community spots all over it ID'ing it as the USS Harry S Truman CVN 75 (the 75 is clearly visable).

Also a correction to myself: the amphib is not the Belleau Wood...its the Kearsarge

On google earth i've seen a 5 instead of a 6, because the 6 digit is partly hidden by something on the deck. After comparing with the actual CVN 76. I confirm the carrier on pic is CVN 75

thanks guys, I'll update the title to reflect CVN 75. Feel free to submit a second entry for the amphib carrier.

I would, but since its docked right next to the Harry Truman, would it be worth it?

interesting question. I think so, because we can then title it as its own entry.
