that is a cool ridge running east-west. Can someone give more information on it? It almost doesn't look real.Thu Sep 08 21:41:52 -0700 2005 From: Shadrack
The ridge is part of the MacDonnell Ranges that stretch for over 400 km, running from east to west with the highest peaks being Mount Liebig (1,524m / 5,000 ft) and Mount Zeil (1,510 m / 4,955 ft).
Sat Sep 10 05:54:23 -0700 2005 The pass is called Heavitree Gap and was discovered in 1871 by a surveyor who was looking for a way through the MacDonnell Ranges to the north to Darwin to run the Overland Telegraph wire for morse code transmissions. He also found a bubbling spring of water which he called Alice after his post master general's wife. |
