Cheatham Annex

The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC), Norfolk Detachment, Cheatham Annex is also the Regional Supply Office (RSO) for the Peninsula at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Cheatham Annex. The mission is to provide complete retail supply support services for approximately 40 tenant activities between Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg and Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown. Included as part of this support service is custody asset storage for large, bulky and unique Navy material and programs.

An example of some of the Navy assets maintained at Cheatham Annex are submarine periscopes, ship propellers, bull gears, antennae, sonar domes, and various other equipment. Eighteen warehouses provide approximately 2.3 million gross square feet of general-purpose unheated space and 300,000 gross square feet of controlled humidity space. We also maintain the Naval Sea Systems Command's East Coast consolidated stock point for major shipboard mechanical, electronic and some navigational material. FISC Cheatham Annex operates the Navy's only Personal Effects Distribution Center.

At the Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, FISC provides supply support services that include warehousing, inventory management, local delivery, fuel management and distribution, BOS procurement, technical support, customer service, and care of sponsor-owned material primarily in support of Naval Ordnance missions.

Base operating support functions in the Mid Atlantic Region were regionalized in October 1998. As a result, the base support functions of FISC Cheatham Annex and Naval Weapons Station Yorktown were placed under the responsibility of designated Program Managers in the region. The two bases were combined and the Installation Commander is the Command Officer, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. Cheatham Annex is now known as Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Cheatham Annex. FISC Norfolk Detachment, Cheatham Annex still maintains a storefront presence at Cheatham Annex with responsibility for regional supply support on the Peninsula.

Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Cheatham Annex is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. To get there from Washington D.C., take I-95 to I-64 East to Exit 242B (Hwy 199E) to Main Gate. From Virginia Beach, take I-64 West to exit 242B (Hwy 199E) to Main Gate. From Hwy 17 South, take Colonial Parkway towards Williamsburg to Cheatham Annex exit.

Located in the heart of the Jamestown-Williamsburg-Yorktown Historic Triangle, Cheatham Annex offers something for everyone. Fishing, bicycling, boating, camping, golf and private "get away" cabins are just a sampling of the recreation and facilities available.

Cheatham Annex offers one of the best outdoor recreation sites in the Navy. It exemplifies the coexistence between the Navy mission and the environment. The 2,300 acres of woodlands and lakes are home to: white-tailed deer, raccoon, squirrel, cotton-tail, beaver, otter, and geese. More than 150 species of birds live in the woodlands year-round. Do not be surprised to spot wild turkeys, osprey, great-blue herons, great-horned owls, swans, quail or pheasants. The three freshwater lakes abound with large mouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish.
