My father was the manager during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This hatchery raised Rainbow Trout. There four homes for the Federal staff. You should see the Vistor's Center/ holding house to the north (where the fingerlings are raised), the transportation garage to the south, to the west are the Raceways where the Trout are raised until they are ready to be moved to where they will be released. There are four raceways in the image that have water and the rest (40) that are dry. This Hatchery has been closed and is no longer part of the Federal system. Currently the Mescalero tribe is in negotiations to take over management.
