Downer Rail (EDi Rail until 2 July 2007[1]) is a rail company based in Australia. Formed as a merger of Clyde Engineering and Walkers Limited. [2] It is a subsidiary of Downer EDi. Downer Rail's services include design, manufacture, refurbishment and maintenance of rolling stock and construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure.

Central Queensland[edit]

Downer Rail has undertaken the construction of the following classes of locomotives for the coal network in Central Queensland

  • 3500 Class Electric
  • 3600 Class Electric
  • 4000 Class Diesel-Electric
  • 4100 Class Diesel-Electric

Downer has also undertaken refurbishment of 3500 and 3600 into 3550 Class
