Downer Rail
Downer Rail (EDi Rail until 2 July 2007[1]) is a rail company based in Australia. Formed as a merger of Clyde Engineering and Walkers Limited. [2] It is a subsidiary of Downer EDi. Downer Rail's services include design, manufacture, refurbishment and maintenance of rolling stock and construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure.

Victoria[edit]
Downer EDI Rail has undertaken several projects/tasks in Victoria including:
- Electrification of the Cranbourne line, formerly served by a diesel service
- Rehabilitation of the overhead wires on the Upfield and Pakenham (Dandenong-Pakenham section) lines
- Track maintenance for Pacific National (formerly Freight Australia)
- Refurbishment of 98 Comeng trains for Bayside Trains, and later M>Train
- Carriage refurbishment of the V/Line fleet
- Joint Venture with French Transport Group Keolis in Operating Melbourne's Tram Network
New South Wales[edit]
Downer Rail has undertaken several projects/tasks in New South Wales including:
- Millennium train
- Waratah train
- Northern Sydney Freight Corridor building 2 loops at Gosford.[3]
Western Australia[edit]
Downer Rail has undertaken several projects/tasks in Western Australia including:
- Transperth A-series train (1st and 2nd generations)
- Transperth B-series train
South East Queensland[edit]
Downer Rail has undertaken many projects/tasks in South East Queensland including:
- QR Suburban Multiple Unit 220 Series
- QR Interurban Multiple Unit 100/120 Series
- QR Interurban Multiple Unit 160 Series
- QR Suburban Multiple Unit 260 Series
- QR Tilt Train
Central Queensland[edit]
Downer Rail has undertaken the construction of the following classes of locomotives for the coal network in Central Queensland
- 3500 Class Electric
- 3600 Class Electric
- 4000 Class Diesel-Electric
- 4100 Class Diesel-Electric
Downer has also undertaken refurbishment of 3500 and 3600 into 3550 Class
