Looks like this is over a tunnel entrance; here is the other end of the tunnel. Does anyone have more information on this?

Also, scroll right and look at the blurred-out segment. What is that?

According to the Google map layover, it's called the IJ tunnel.

And I too would LOVE to know what that blurred out area is. The map was no help on this; just looks like more water. Military ship docking, maybe?

Argh...now taking a closer look at the map, it's not necessarily water, so I'm back to completely clueless.

The blanked out part is the Dutch Maritime Museum.. very top secret! (uuh.. not really). There is also an replica of a VOC ship..
If you click 'Google Earth Community' in 'Layers' you can also see the name of that part..
It's a shame we can't see it now, earlier on this part wasn't blanked out.

Wrong. The blurred out part is the Royal Navy Headquarters. The National Maritime Museum lies within its premises.

The IJ-tunnel indeed connects northern-Amsterdam with the main city. The National Science Museum, NEMO, sits on top of its south mouth.
