According to Merriam Webster, a ranch is 1 : a large farm for raising horses, beef cattle, or sheep 2 : a farm or area devoted to a particular specialty. Besides a few pets, the Bush mansion has no farms or livestocks of any sort.
Wed Sep 21 20:27:22 -0700 2005 The Crawford Mansion is named "Crawford Ranch" so that it makes George W Bush seem more like a regular guy, so a "ranch" it is. From: burall
You can see aerial photos of the property when it was a pig farm at: http://eyeball.sabotage.org/prez-eyeball.htmWed Sep 21 22:49:50 -0700 2005 From: tedder
I won't be renaming it from 'ranch'. It isn't a chapel either, but it is the name most people know this place by.Thu Sep 22 09:50:37 -0700 2005 From: th7700
Prairie Chapel is a historical name for the area where the President's property is located. And, it's a lot closer to being a ranch than this other "ranch."Tue Jan 10 10:58:45 -0800 2006 From: Bokchoi Cowboy

But I thought the other "ranch" was used for herding young boys....so it should still be called a ranch. A bit twisted, sure, but still a ranch... |
