Interesting

Just reading the news today. Came across something pretty interesting. Some press-stopping news about a cat being let out of a bag. Huh. Do you think their source is reliable?

In fact, I'm so certain, I'd bet my house.

Congratulations Kyle. Couldn't happen to a better guy. :-)

So, one of my buddies happens to have an island in Texas.

Well, I say "island" loosely. It's more of a small piece of land in a big lake.

And it's more like half of an "island".

But I'm definately talking him to trading a house for it.

Hey kyle
This is Emilio from the previous beach bar offer. Congratulations! I have been following your quest and am really excited for you to accomplish your goal. It just took you 359 days to turn a paperclip into a house, some people take that log to build one with all the materials, some others take their whole life working and never get there. Congratulations!

That's awesome, man. I heard about your quest sometime either late last year or early this year on NPR.

Occasionally, I'd find myself wondering, "whatever happened to the paperclip guy?"

A little while ago, I saw a mention on Slashdot that your quest was complete.

Congratulations, dude. Not only have you done something unusual and cool, but you have managed to do it with a touch of grace and style not often seen these days. Many blessings upon your new home! :-)

I came back to see how many comments you've got here so far.... Since there are just a few, I think you've inadvertently conducted a study on how many people avoid clicking on PDF files (where the details of the cat that is out of the bag may be found). Funny!

I just saw the trade mentioned on Boing Boing so the masses should be arriving soon. The question is, will they click?

I think this is the first time I've posted voluntarily in a blog. And the reason I'm writing is no different from anybody else's here, I just wanted to congratulate you because this was one of the funniest and most original ideas I have ever read about.
If I could give you one advice ( not that i know much about anything, after all i'm only 17 ), I would tell you not to stop. Now that you are known, use the publicity of the "one red paper clip" for something else, for another project or even to get a great job in... I don't know... Google, Dreamworks, anywhere. You're creativity shoudn't be wasted.

This is a great example of how a seemingly impossible notion can become a rock solid reality and its made ever more possible by the expansion of the internet. This idealistic dream seemed laughable when you traded for a dirty old tooth brush but its proven to be an impressive insight; an insight that can be taken advantage of by other idealists, dreamers, thinkers and average citizens of the world. To all of them you have proven that "it", whatever it is, can be accoplished. Thank you.

Awesome job, Kyle!

I first heard of your story at an awards assembly for Native Youth in our community. The Director of our Boys & Girls Club was one of the quest speakers and he shared your story with us. His point, of course, was to let the kids know that nothing is impossible and to never give up on your dreams and that big things do come in small packages.

Way to go! I hope you are very happy in Kipling.

Congratulations, it's amazing that in this day and age, bartering is still alive and well. Enjoy your humble abode, you deserve it!! Hey you even made local newspaper front page headlines, way to go!

Congratz. To make you even happier, I think you will like this; your story isn't just news in Canada (oh, and that country to the south of you called the USA, by the way) but it's really international! Just now it was on the radio in The Netherlands (http://www.3fm.nl).

How'bout that?

Regards,
Philip Lafeber.

I just found out about your project on Yahoo news today. What an interesting concept! I LOVE the fact that you were able to do what you did, via the communities like blogger.com and CL....ah yes...good 'ol CL.

It's really amazing to hear about how someone could start w/ a red paperclip and work himself up to a house! Why didn't I think of that?!?!?!

Well, congratulations! I'm looking forward to your book. :)

Hey Kyle! Good luck in Kipling! It's a pretty good town. I lived there with family for a year when I was a kid. Say "Hi" to Uncle Frank for me! Stacey.

Awesome is not enough to express my feeling and surprise. You really proved the meaning of value-added transactions and it's the finest example for we all to rock the traditional trade systems so blocked with old structures.

Now we should all try to find the way to trade with virtually any items, which will have for sure a suitable owner to trade with somewhere else, just find the item, find the owner, get the trade!!

anyone interested in building upon this idea drop a line to [email protected], will follow it up.

Kyle, you are obviously an inspiration to the world. You are an incredible person that's taught me much about business, bartering, the value of possesions, human relations, a vision turning into reality...the list can go on.
Anyhow, I'd love to send you a tee shirt as a present. It's not much, but hey...I would be honoured.
