Gun Battery Scheveningen-Nord

The construction of this coastal gun battery started in 1941. From start the guns was placed in open emplacements and the crew were referred to barracks and small protective bunkers. In 1943 the gun battery was expanded with bunkers for all installations. As something special, all the bunkers was connected by underground tunnels, cast in concrete.

The battery was equipped with four 150 mm. guns, placed in each their pillbox with a fire command bunker in the middle.

To protect the flanks there were placed two gun bunkers and five crew bunkers. In addition there was built two ammunition bunkers, a command bunker and an anti-tank bunker. Bunkers and the shootinggraves are today very well preserved and also well preserved is remnants of a antitank wall, some 200 meters east of the firecontrolpost. The wall was designed to prevent enemy units to bypass the battery.
